The design of your new bathroom, some useful ideas

The bathroom has become a very popular room to transform lately. We have been redecorating our house little by little, starting with the kitchen and working through and are now currently designing our new bathroom. I am having so much fun designing the bathroom, there are so many options out there now, amazing baths and showers, toilets and beautiful tiles. I did not know where to start.

The first thing I did when starting to design my new bathroom was to check out all the local bathroom supply shops. I had an idea in my mind of how I wanted the new bathroom to look. I went and collected catalogues and leaflets that showed me all the new bathroom accessories that were out there. I brought them home and really enjoyed looking through them. There were showers that turned into steam rooms, showers with massaging jets and all sorts. The range of baths that you can get is massive! We had a quite big budget for our bathroom as we did with the kitchen as well as I really wanted a special kitchen and bathroom. I wanted to put a great bathroom suite in that would be new, modern and stylish but that would last us for years. I picked out my favourite shower, bath, sink, toilet and tiles from the catalogue and decided before I went back to the shop to speak to their bathroom designer, I would check out the prices on the internet. I was curious to see if I could find what I liked at a different price, although I really wanted an expert opinion also!

The internet offered so much to us, there were thousands of sites offering the suite that I liked, at a range of prices, some a little cheaper some a lot more expensive. But I did find a better bathroom suite and tiles on the internet than I had previously picked out. I decided to go and talk to the bathroom designer at the shop and see if maybe they could order the suite that I found on the internet, as the price that they would give me would include the fitting of the new bathroom as well.

The designer at the shop was so helpful to us. He came out to the house to have a look at the room and took some pictures, went back to the shop so he could "digitally fit" the bathroom on the computer, and we could have a little play around to see how the bathroom looked best. We changed the way it was arranged and looked superb. They could order me the suite that I found on the internet; the designer was able to give me many advices about the equipment etc.

I really think it was beneficial to use the bathroom designer from the store. He knew what he was talking about and was able to see how the finished design would look before the work was carried. I knew that I would be happy with the result. I think that checking the internet when designing the bathroom was a good thing as well, as it offered more ideas to me than just the catalogue. There were blog pages and a forum that people had started so you could actually see what they had done to their own bathrooms - it was really helpful to us.
