The new book that saved our camping trip!

How many of you can identify with this story? My family and I were camping last summer in Tennessee and as the "so called" family expert at camping it was up to me to build a beautiful campfire for the family to enjoy. Well, not only had it been raining that day which left everything wet including the firewood, but also to be honest my success over the years at building campfires has been shaky at best. Needless to say we ended up toasting marshmallows over our propane stove and my ego was left slightly bruised once again. The title of the book is "How To Build A Campfire", and what I love about this book is that it's short, sweet and hard to beat. The author explains the basics about fire, teaches you what type of wood you'll need, and shows you step by step how to build the perfect campfire every time. I also enjoyed learning about many different types of fires you can use for various situations like a windy day or cooking. My favorite is the Keyhole Fire, which lets me grill the perfect steak over hot coals, and at the same time the rest of the family enjoys a roaring fire, it's great. My kids also love the book; in fact my son's favorite part was learning how to make a torch that he can use to light the fire. My daughter even gets into the act by adding color effects that the book talks about. Last but not least, my wife appreciates all the safety tips in the book that helps us have a great time while staying safe. If you ever wanted to know how to build a campfire then this is the book for you.

I consider it a must have for anyone who goes camping, builds a fire in the back yard, or simply wants to make a nice fire in the household fireplace. I keep a copy handy in the glove box in the RV. It was the best $10 I have spent. I discovered this book in the beginning of December and ended up buying four more copies to give out as gifts and Christmas stocking stuffers.
