Three Popular Health And Fitness New Year Resolutions And How To Stick To Them
Most people around the UK make at least one New Year resolution.
Some people make them seriously, trying to stick to them all throughout the year in hope that they'll, for example, lower their debts or be more sociable.
Others take the whole process a lot more light-heartedly, making an often humorous resolution on New Year's Eve or one that they can very easily achieve.
Of the most common New Year resolutions, there are three which relate directly to health and fitness - losing weight, getting fit and giving up smoking.
One of the issues that a lot of people have, however, is that whilst they would love to be able to achieve these resolutions, they aren't prepared enough to be able to do so for the long term and so they don't manage to achieve their goals.
Therefore, if you're planning on making one of these three resolutions, take a look at the following information to help you ensure you stick to them throughout the coming year.
1. Losing weight - possibly the most popular New Year resolution that's made, the single point that you have to remember here to ensure that you lose weight throughout the year is that you plan and prepare everything.
Don't do a grocery shop without planning your meals first; stop deciding what you're going to do for lunch at work at the last minute and even things that you might consider slightly obscure, such as going out to a bar and drinking needs to be thought of beforehand - a vodka and slimline tonic is a substantially less calorific drink than a pint of lager.
2. Getting fit - the problem that a lot of people have with getting fit is that they don't have the motivation to do so.
They know that they have to lose weight and they know, to a certain extent, how they should be doing it, but with nothing to motivate them to do it themselves, it's difficult for them to stick to it.
And it's because of this why you need to consider a membership to Birmingham gyms, for example.
Meaning you pay out a certain amount of money each month, you might feel that you're obliged to go, but this is exactly what you want - the more money you pay out to lose weight, the more motivated you are going to be to exercise so that you don't waste your money.
3. Giving up smoking - one of the worst habits in terms of your health anyone can take up, whilst going cold turkey is an option for giving up smoking for some, there's such a variety of methods to help you quit smoking, the best option is to simply go and speak to your GP.
They'll let you know what's on offer, what's best for you and get you started on the road to quitting smoking, a New Year resolution which should help increase your fitness levels and see more money staying in your bank account - someone who smokes 20 cigarettes a day could save themselves nearly 2,000 pounds a year.
