Tibetan Buddhist Meditation

Tibetan Buddhist Meditation

Tibetan Buddhist Meditation

The truest, purest form of Tibetan Buddhist meditation can only be practiced and perfected in an atmosphere that likens the culture of its source. In other words, if you really want to practice Tibetan meditation, you must go immediately to Tibet.

OK, before you go doubting our sanities at this point, please be reassured that we are not suggesting an actual, physical journey to the land of Tibet. We rather are suggesting a journey of the mind; one in which you literally take leave of your senses and travel to a nicer, more peaceful place.

If you choose, you can begin your journey by creating an atmosphere that harkens the sacred land of Tibet. You can retreat to a quiet, peaceful place; perhaps a nearby yoga studio, or a community park that comes complete with ponds and lakes, flowers and green areas.

Aside from adjusting your geographic location, you next must transform your frame of mind. Relax, close your eyes, basically ease your body and mind into a state of peace. Try to free yourself of worrisome, stressful notions. Just permit the stress to flow forth from your limbs and succumb to a state of total and complete relaxation.

Let go of your worries and all your concerns, losing yourself in a divine state of pure inner peace. At the same time, don't get so peaceful and relaxed that you fall asleep. Keep focused on the objective at hand; take the meditation process with the upmost seriousness.

Visualization is another important stop on your meditative journey. Envision yourself in a happy, joyful locale; your favorite park, amusement park, or even an ultra cool movie theater or shopping center.

Picture people you love-friends and family members--laughing and joyful, carefree and in top spirits.

Picture a fragrant forest of emerald-hued ferns and pearl pink carnations, singing birds and multicolored butterflies. Imagine yourself sharing this scenic landscape with someone you love; or at least with someone whose company you can tolerate, who will not distract you into a state of sublime irritation!

Or, if you truly want to conjure a vision of Tibet, imagine the inside of a Buddhist temple, with its domed ceiling, decorative windows and bronzed statues of the immortal Buddha. Imagine beautiful landscapes dotted with multiple varieties of trees and flowers, picture rolling hills and picturesque sunsets, all of which serve to define these magical, mystical lands.

In short, do whatever it takes to make you feel joyful and relaxed, and more than ready to practice the time-honored art ofTibetan Buddhist meditation. Do whatever is required to get to Tibet; if only in the context of your meditative dreams...
