Tips for Teacher to Organize the Classroom Files

Tips for Teacher to Organize the Classroom Files

Being a teacher make you deal with the flood of paper everyday, and it gets worse during the examination! Many kinds of papers make your home full, whether the lesson plans, schedules, handouts, and any other papers that come to you everyday. Why do not you try to organize them? Just do not let them take control over your life!

Many people say that the most frustrating moment experienced by teachers is when seeing their papers flood their table and even house. However, there is always a solution for anything, including preventing the papers from making you more frustrated. You will need a file cabinet to control the files, in which the bigger filing cabinet will better, as it offers wider storage for your files.

After choosing a cabinet, you need to divide it and classify the files based on two systems: curriculum and management. The curriculum system includes handouts and anything you need to teach school subjects, such as handouts for Science, Math, or History. On the other hand, the management system allows you to manage files related to classroom and teaching career, like Classroom Jobs, Discipline, Professional Development, etc.

When making categories, you should try to be specific, such as using the names of each Science material instead of using one big Science folder. You will need to make one file for Plants, Space, or Oceans, so by the time you will teach about ocean, you can easily grab the file without getting confused.

For better search, put some labels on the filing cabinet as you will know which drawer to go during the search. Do not forget to write the labels with clear fonts, or you can use computer fonts to make the labels more readable. Remember to apply the organization systems continuously, in which you should not forget to file new or old papers, materials, and handouts right after you get them on your desk.
