Traveling Using Your Teaching Salary

It is no secret that the teaching salary of mentors is low

. We often hear their complaints about this because it is not enough, especially if they have families to feed and their selves as well. As a teacher myself, I empathize with the situation because I can not deny that I have actually been compensated poorly.

Despite the pay issues and concerns, do not leave this as an obstacle to do what you want. For example, something that I firmly believe is traveling. Perhaps you might wonder how your salary may be sufficient for that purpose because in the first place it is so lacking. You might even depart from the pure idea, because a trip for one is expensive. Let me show you how you can tailor your teaching salary to a possible experience out of the city.

Tip #1: Plan ahead. Traveling involves so much planning, especially on a tight budget. For one airplane fares are way cheaper if they are booked months before. Hotel reservations are also the same. As much as possible don't make immediate trips and during the peak season. Take months or more to plan. Another thing to consider is to make sure you have already drafted the possible expenses. List down the breakdowns such as how much would you probably spend for the tickets, lodging, food and the like. At least you will be able to gauge how much you would really spend.

Tip # 2: Budget thoroughly. If you already have a trip in mind the next big thing to worry is the budget. If your salary is quite small, better save it first for the trip. Assign a specific amount each pay day and put it under your travel money. If you already have a month or even a date, divide the total possible cost with how much you need to saved and the number of paydays more. If you will set aside more than half of your salary for that trip, it is best to move it to another year. It is not necessary to commit the necessary expenses for one trip only. Learn to give first a little patience and time for you to have enough on that much coveted trip.

Tip # 3: Be open to compromises. In order to enjoy a vacation you need not be on another island or continent to begin with. If you really want a tour, especially during this summer, just head out of town and stay on the beach as close to your home as possible. At least with this, you can definitely save more because you do not spend much and still have that relaxing atmosphere with you.

Traveling is not only intended for professionals with higher pay. Teachers can also enjoy this kind of opportunity. It may not be that lavish and extravagant but nonetheless the thought is still there. We travel because we want to see new things, new cultures and enjoy ourselves. Your teaching salary need not be a hindrance to realize this.
