Try Holidays For Fun Marketing Themes For Your Business
Many businesses look for marketing themes they can try
. A popular theme that has been used for hundreds of years, in many ways is to market by using the different holidays as a theme. When many think of "the holidays," you may first think of the winter holidays including Christmas, Hanukah and Kwanza. But holidays occur year round and they are a fun and friendly way to reach out to your customers.
Marketing to your customers doesn't always mean putting something on sale. It can include doing a community event or sponsoring something in your community. Let's look at the example of the big department store Macy's, with their headquarters in New York City, New York. Every year, Macy's hosts the Thanksgiving Day parade and they also host the 4th of July fireworks. Both events are televised, with music and entertainment. The events are very popular each year. While Macy's does have a Thanksgiving Day and a 4th of July season sale, most customers do not immediately think of these. They think of their great parade and fireworks display held each year. But the customers still keep this department store in their minds, as a great place to shop. Macy's has chosen U.S.A. patriotic holidays to do community events - on a national level because it is a national store - and customers remember them fondly.
You may not be ready to sponsor a big event like the Thanksgiving Day parade, but you can take these same techniques and apply them for your business. Choose one to four annual holidays and make them "your" holidays for your company. They can be any holidays that you choose. What are the best holidays? This could be a different answer for so many businesses - ideally you want to choose holidays that your customers like the best too! Then do something on these holidays that promotes your store.
Your store can hold a holiday themed sale; this is one of the most popular things to do. Don't think it is an old idea that customers are tired of: many customers look forward to holiday themed sales. And if your customers get to know that you'll always have your biggest sale of the year during the Memorial Day weekend, they'll remember to shop faithfully during that time.
There are many fun things you can do with your holiday themed sale. If it is a New Year's Day sale, you can price items at 20.13 for the 2013 year. Or you could give a 14% discount on Valentine's Day. Many customers would look forward to and would remember this type of sale.
You can also sponsor a community event during the holidays. Most communities do have parades during the St. Patrick's Day, Memorial Day, Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving Day holidays. In some communities you can sign up to enter the parade, or you could sponsor one of the participating events like a school band or musical group. Another fun choice is to sponsor a sports group. There are many kids and adults sports groups in just about every season. While this doesn't always coincide with one single specific holiday, your business name will be mentioned during the entire sports season.
Holiday marketing themes are popular and fun. Choose several holidays and try adding this marketing technique for your business!
