From time immemorial humans have emerged from being just a living being to the most intelligent living being on earth

. Even though the main kind of communication in Stone Age was just a non-verbal kind, humans still managed to communicate their thoughts and will to their fellow beings. From time to time as the needs of the humans changed the means of communication also saw a drastic growth. The various types of communication we have today have made our life easier and comfortable.

Each living species on this earth have their unique way of communicating with each other. Of which the various types of communications in the human world has been discussed in the following article. Communication is a process which involves a sender piling information into a package and channeling or imparting it to a receiver through some common medium. Basically there are two main types of communications- Verbal & non-verbal. Verbal communication mainly involves the use of words, sounds and language to convey the message; Speaking is a very effective way of communication where as nonverbal communication involves physical communications, smell, touch etc. Though body language plays a vital role in verbal communication it is the confidence and effectiveness in presenting the information which completes it.

Verbal communication led to the development of various scripts and languages according to the needs of different communities. In today's world with situations changing every minute types of communication has expanded its horizons. There are three major types these days which connects people across the world:

1. Written communication: This involves news papers, magazines, books etc. This is the major from of communication which is accessible to one and all irrespective of their financial status.

2. Oral Communication: This type of communication involves television & radio. Though the present generation is more inclined towards modern forms of communication this types has still not lost its importance completely.

3. Modern forms of communication: This involves World Wide Web, mobile phones and various other gadgets which have proved to be a boon to man kind from the technological world. Internet with its countless advantages has almost become the part and parcel of every individual these days. With the growing need and demand of the society newer types of communications are being developed and used on a daily basis.

There are some other types of communication also like visual communication which is mainly used to communicate when the receiving audience is a larger one and needs to be done on a large scale. The other form is using the body language. This is one of the most powerful types of communication and is primarily used in interpreting other persons behavior, attitude and nature. It is very interpretive in nature.

Communication in this modern world is not a skill; it has become a necessity for everyone. The success of an individual in this fast paced world depends on the effectiveness of his/her communication. The ability to communicate effectively and send messages through different methods determines the success of an individual in creating a successful social network. So go ahead and develop your communication skills and express yourself. I hope this short article has given you a little insight into the many types of communication we possess as humans.
