Using Your Neighbors To Help You Sell Your House Easier

Maybe you thought the title of this article was a little strange because it doesn't sound good when I say "use your neighbors

," does it? But it can be a good thing when I am planning to sell a home and maybe someone in my neighborhood has friends or relatives who are looking for a home just like mine. It's a win-win situation for everybody if we manage to meet and strike a deal on my home.

Of course the most important thing is that I have a way to contact my neighbors, and that means by postal mail, by email or by phone. I'm already using social media online, but the chances of the neighborhood seeing my posts or tweets is not too great, so I have to find a way to contact them personally.

Once I make a decision about how I intend to contact my neighbors, which I can tell you right now is usually by postal mail, I set about to write a little bit of information about my house. My favorite way to mail to my neighbors is by old-fashioned post card. You can buy postcards with the postage already printed on them, I really like those because they are easy to write and mail quickly, and even better, they stick out from the crowd in the usual batch of bills and junk mail we all receive each day. How many personal postcards to you get in your mail? See what I mean? Your postcard will be noticed and it will be read.

You'll want to be sure that the postcard message is short and clear and interesting that includes all the important details. I write something like this when I want to selling a house: "I'm having an open house on (date) at (time) and it would be great to talk with you about my home for sale in case you or someone you know is looking for a home in this area." Don't forget to give your exact street address as well as your phone number. Some people may not be able to stop by for the open house, but they may want to chat with you anyway. Honestly, people love inside information and that's what you're giving them by mailing this postcard. People love to be the one "in the know" so they can tell other people and feel good about it.

Good luck with my system for mailing postcards announcing your open house, or holding an open house with a simple sign in your yard. One way or the other, people with know your house is for sale and they will know your phone number!
