These timepieces have always fascinated us, but now there is a new and fun device on the market

. It is called the "Renew Sleep Clock" and can monitor your sleep. It can tell you your sleep patterns and whether you are getting enough sleep. The little clock by your bedside that ticks away happily and sends you to sleep with its white noise has been replaced by high technology.

Technology has now turned to the mobile phone industry. You can now receive a variety of text messages, tweets, caller Ids, weather and news feeds. They are relayed from your smart phone. This technology is for the busy person who does not have the time to pull out their phone and check for messages etc. The smart phone must be around 30 feet in proximity to the timepiece.

An example of this will be if you are grocery shopping and have your hands full of grocery bags you can conveniently glance at your watch when it alerts you about a message or that someone is calling you. Another instance is when you are exercising and do not have the time to take out your mobile phone. You can still receive an alert and can then decide if it is urgent or can wait.

You can get your timepiece to do all this with 2 apps, which can both be obtained for free on Google Play. They are Smart Watch and Live Ware Manager. There is also a new app being developed that allows the user to change slides in a presentation by just sliding their finger across the face of your timepiece. Another app will be able to check your credit card balance with a couple of swipes. Other functions of this device will be able to connect to your home Internet network.

The devices have touch-tone screens and one works by buttons instead of touch.

There is one timepiece that has a black and white power saving mode. It makes use of the surrounding light. If you leave your finger on it for a few seconds, it will again show a bright full color screen. They will last on average 30 hours between charges. The device will alert you with soft vibrations, which are more discreet if you are in a meeting or an important lecture. They are also easier to pick up alerts from your timepiece than a mobile in your coat pocket.

You can find these timepieces at your local jewelry store or at a department store. However, they are available on any website where phones and fine watches are sold. They are fun and exciting to use and will take you far into the future with their new technologies.

Watches have come a long way in a short span of time and with new technology they will go even farther. Now it is fun to wear one of these devices, which will do far more than just function as a timepiece. It is interesting to speculate how many functions your watch will be able to do in just a few short years.
