For most people, a Solar London is quite a huge reverie or ambition that is relatively impossible to achieve. This is because they think that solar energy systems are not reliable all day and all night long since electricity from the sun can only be generated when the sun is up. This means that a house can have a source of electricity for only eight (8) every day. That is if the weather is sunny and neither cloudy nor rainy. Otherwise, if there is no sun, there is no electricity to generate.

While these assumptions are true, there are already innovations and updates that can address these concerns. As a matter of fact, there are already advanced solar panels that can generate electricity from the sun even if they are under the shadows of the clouds. This, however, is only applicable for several hours only and the energy that can be generated is really small.

Moreover, there are also ongoing developments in different countries in order to come up with more cost-efficient and more effective panels that will generate electricity from the sun more reliably.

Aside from the innovations above, there are also other basic reasons why the dream for a Solar London is indeed possible and it can come true in the near future.

One, a Solar London is not far from reality because of the reliable supply of energy from the sun. According to the calculation of some scientists, the sun produces almost 90,000 TW of electricity, which is really huge. This can already supply more than 6,000 times of the current energy consumption of the entire humankind.

Moreover, the second reason is that putting up solar-assisted systems has no restrictions at all. What I want to say is that you anywhere you are around the world right now, you can actually put up even a small-scale panel to your own roof. This is unlike the wind turbines that you can only install in places where there is considerable wind harvest On the other hand, since the sun shines everywhere across the earth at specific time of the day, you are assured that you have supply of electricity no matter what.

However, a Solar London does not mean that the country will be 100% dependent on solar only. The more realistic partition is to say that majority of the electricity being used by London will be sourced from the solar energy. Among the secondary resources could be other renewable energy systems like wind, hydro and biomass. The least priority energy resources would be the fossil-based fuels, which will account for minimal percentage in the future. This will surely happen because the supply of this extremely scarce already nowadays.
