What Does My Courier Provide For Packing Material?
When you have to first start shipping, either with your own company or in a new role
in a larger organization, there are going to be some hurdles that you have to leap when you first start working with the couriers. The first thing is that you need to understand what is and is not going to be provided for you by the courier company, and what services they do or do not provide. Any Chicago courier will tell you that many of their clients have misconceptions about what they do, and you can get ahead of the curve by preparing yourself before you ever call that courier for the first time.
One of the most common of these concerns has to do with the packing materials. Whenever a company has to ship packages, there are many different kinds of packing materials that are needed on a regular basis. This includes things like boxes, packing kernels, tape, bubble wrap and more. The questions is often which of these, if any, can be provided by a courier company.
The amount of packing material that a courier has available is going to usually relate to the type of company that they are operating. First of all, realize that almost never is a company going to provide these included in the cost of the courier service that you are already paying for. However, there are couriers that will sell you packing materials in addition to the services that they are already charging you for.
Usually, the larger a courier is, the more packing material they are going to have available for you to buy from them. Often though, a courier will not always be able to bring these out to your location for a single delivery. That is because they don't want to have to wait while you pack your shipment. If you have a regular shipping schedule though, you can usually get a drop off of your ordered shipping materials.
If you're using a courier for the moving of freight rather than parcels, they may have more packing materials available to you. The only way to really find out is to call someone directly at the company and ask them what is available. When you first open an account with a courier company this is a good question to get out of the way. That way, if you're going to have to buy your packing supplies from another source you will be prepared.
