However, before it was known as a modern community, Nuvali was first known as a sugar plantation in the 1800s which was first owned by American enterprising groups, and it was first known as the Friar Lands.

However, it was in 1948 in which Jose Yulo acquired the Friar Land which was developed for industrial, residential, and recreational purposes.

But it was only when Ayala Land Corp. had worked together with the Yulos that the community was further developed into the first modern housing community in the Philippines, Nuvali.
