Some patients have glowing reviews in which they say that their surgery, their surgeon, and everything about their experience was wonderful. Their only regret is that they didn't get their lipoplasty earlier.

Some others are not nearly so positive. These people explain that their surgeon was callous or uncaring, misrepresented information or was not sufficiently helpful in addressing their particular concerns. Finally, and most importantly, one has to be a good doctor, with a sound understanding of the body, health and with the moral integrity and caring that we expect in people who are invovled in our health.

That's a pretty tall order, but it is what is necessary in order for a person to be a truly great cosmetic surgeon. As you go about selecting your surgeon, you may want to keep these areas in mind.

You can learn about a doctor's skill as an artist and technician by looking at before and after pictures. As you look at them, ask yourself, "Do I find this beautiful? Is that how I want to look?" No matter how skilled a surgeon is, if you don't appreciate their aesthetic, then you may want to find someone else.

You will also want to try to find a surgeon that you think will be a good doctor, one who would be willing to work with you if there are any complications and one who seems to genuinely care about your welfare. You may be able to tell some of this by how he or she acts during your consultation.

Make your surgery the best that it can be. Choose the best surgeon that you can find. It will be well worth it in the end.
