Mum? Fred Flintstone? That good looking man who swept you off your feet and you ended up marrying? The Asian Tsunami disaster, or is it the GDP of your country? Perhaps it is the 4.15 traffic jam, Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel? I still have a few big questions to ask but

Here is the real question. It's easier too. Do YOU create your future? You are right, the answers is YES you do. Hopefully this does not confuse you but if you answered NO, then its still you who creates your future. Either way it is you who crafts and designs your future.

It is you so it seems who resides over how the future turns out for you. Does that mean you get all that you highlight in getting? You may hit your mark or at least achieve most of it if you are at free will in making all your choices. With free will, you have the power to choose what is right and apt for you. While you agree and understand this meaning, let me ask you this, so do you have this power of free will?

Here I am going to haul in one last question "To what degree do you have the power of free will to choose, change circumstances, habits, actions and things and affect your options ultimately creating your future?" You see everything has more than one reason why it exists. This also means that there are many ways of looking at something, even something acutely singular. Your fundamental belief in the degree of the power of free will you have in making choices and changes that help you shape your future has many serious ramifications. How you see things and how you narrate them stems from this belief.

You see, what we are talking about here is not the interference of other people telling you what to do. It is not the power of free will over these people that we are talking about. It is the power of free will over interpretation you make about everything that comes in contact with you. Each and every one of us forms mental models as to what we believe is real and what is not. These models establish how things should or shouldn't be done and what is possible or not possible for us. For some of us, these mental models severely restrict our potential, our enjoyment of life and our ability to connect with others. Yet, others have mental models that provide all sorts of positive opportunities. We call these mental models reality and often steadfastly hold on to them even when there is significant evidence to the contrary.

Psychologist and best selling author Martin Seligman, refers to this as optimistic vs. pessimistic explanatory styles. When good and bad things happen to us, we can have positive-optimistic or negative-pessimistic interpretations and explanations to these things; not surprisingly such explanations just happen to influence our health, happiness, success, marital satisfaction and life expectancy. They kind of influence everything.

This basic power belief influences all your goals, expectations, behavior and success. If this isn't the future, what is? People whose interpretations of everyday experiences are susceptible to the believe in the power of their infinite potential set lofty goals, have positive expectations, think and behave in a productive and right manner, have tenacity to get through difficult adversity and achieve great success. When things don't make sense to them, they don't care two hoods and set the opposition to go and fly a kite.

Life is a very consistent behavior modification program giving everyone an equal and perpetual opportunity to get things right. Start here, take charge. After all it is this life whose future we have taken the interest to affect, the future you decide to give it
