Why Do You Need Industrial Fans?

Industrial fans or blowers are machines whose main function is to provide air to the vast sections of an industrial warehouse

. They help in dealing with the problems of stagnant air, heat stratification, and dampness in or around industrial areas. The mode of action of these fans is dependent on a turbine or motor which functions as the propeller of blades connected to a hub and shaft. The word blower is used for those industrial fans where the resistance to the flow is on the downside of the fan. The flow rate varies between 200 to 2,000,000 cubic feet. They are made up of superior quality blades which render a higher CFM rating. The strong blades enable the fans to move more air in a short interval of time.

Different types of industrial fans are used for different applications. Dust and fume control fans are effective in removing pollutants such as dust, metal particles, carbon mono oxide, nitrous oxides, sulfur oxides etc. They are more advantageous in comparison to air conditioning as far as ventilation is concerned. Air conditioning the entire industrial warehouse can be expensive and not very effective. Industries involved in the production of cement, metal manufacturing, food processing, petrochemical, mining, cryogenics and electric power production can benefit from the use of industrial fans.

Industrial fans can be broadly categorized into centrifugal fans and axial fans. Centrifugal fans use the centrifugal force generated by a rotating plate, to manoeuvre the blades which in turn increases the pressure of the air. Axial fans are different from centrifugal fans as they use the axial forces to impart movement to the air or gas. Depending on the need of a particular industry, these fans may also be used for high temperature recirculation and exhaust purposes.

There are several advantages associated with the use of industrial fans. The amount of electricity utilized by these fans is lesser than that used by an air conditioner. They are quick and effectively circulate air over a large area. The motor of an industrial fan is capable enough to handle a large amount of heat, thus reducing energy costs.
