Why We Should Do Permission-based Email Marketing?
What is permission-based email marketing?
Companies that send promotional emails only to those customers who have requested to receive such correspondence practice permission based email marketing. These customers must opt-in, or request, to get on these email distribution lists. Opt-in email advertising campaigns generally have higher open and conversion rates than unsolicited bulk emails.
We all don't want to be considered as spammer when we do email campaigns. We want to reach our target customers instead of relative less people. Nowadays, people all follow free style. They don't want to be forced to do something, like being forced to receive emails, being forced to buy useless products. Yes, we need to get people feel comfortable when we do email marketing.
If you are accused of sending spam, then you may find your email accounts closed down, your website shut off, and your reputation in tatters. In some parts of the world, you may even be breaking the law.
Quite apart from these practical considerations, there is also a strong argument which says that long-term successful email marketing relationships with customers and others can only work anyway if they're permission based.
The big question, of course, is what constitutes permission...and that is the main subject of debate. It's important to remember that it's not your views, or even the views of the majority, that count, but the views of those receiving your emails and those responsible for administering the infrastructure of the Internet.
An example of permission is when your customer buys something from your online store and also ticks a box marked "please send me news about product updates via email". You now have "permission" to send that person product updates by email, provided you also give them the opportunity to rescind that permission at any time.
We should be aware of a term called ROI. We want to spend less money and get more benefit all the time. So why we need to send emails to tons of people to get ourselves into troubles? Why can't we send emails only to the ones who gave us permission before? They probably would read our emails and do further actions. Those people are the ones who could benefit us. We shouldn't only care about the number of emails we send every time. We should try to understand our customers and deliver the right emails to the right people.
