It is a fact; we are bombarded with messages every minute of the day

. Some are obvious like a billboard or radio announcement. Some are more subtle and are delivered via body language from others.

Regardless of how we receive information, it can and will crowd out our feelings of happiness and tranquility if we let it. How can you counter negative messages and live a happier life?

There are lots of ways but for now let us concentrate on creating a few positive affirmations. Affirmations, if you are not familiar with the term, are phrases or even just a single word that re-directs your energy to a more positive, happy state of mind.

At this point you may be thinking of meditation or a mantra and you would not be far off. However, in this case, your positive affirmations are actually written down and specific to what you are experiencing now.


You have to change your thinking to change your mind set. Let's change it to positive and happy!

Decide on a particular thought you would like to be more positive about

Write it down

Make sure when you write it down it has a positive feel to it; for example if you want to feel happier about how you look in pictures you could say " I look great in pictures, I cannot take a bad picture"

After you have written it down go ahead and laminate it so you can carry it with you.

Repeat your positive affirmation to yourself several time a day

Say it with complete belief in what you are saying, feel it in your bones

You can have one or several going at any one time. Feel free to change up your positive affirmations as you begin to see where you need to.

A cool trick is to put the affirmations you no longer use away and revisit them at a later time. It is always good to know the progress you have made.

It is ok if you do not feel like sharing your new project at first. However, it is often true that others are also on the path toward being more positive and might benefit from your example.

If it turns out that one of your affirmations is to find a life partner and you happen to mention to a new acquaintance that you practice positive affirmations it might just be the start of a new relationship.
