Why You shouldn't have more than One MLM Business at a Time
There are people who treat MLM as a simple math equation. They think, "If I have one MLM venture, I can make this much profit. So if I take part in 3 MLM ventures, I can make 3 times the profit." This may sound logical to most people, but the real truth is that MLM does not work that way. Simple multiplication theories definitely do not work here.
Various problems occur when people consider more than 1 MLM opportunity at a time, especially when the person is just starting out and does not know the game too well. The following is a list of some of the commonest problems that people sailing in many MLM boats at the same time are likely to face.
Each MLM opportunity that you take up will take some amount of time in terms of research. You have to know what the MLM business is all about, you have to understand its compensation plan, what its highlights are, where the profits lie and so on. However, when you take up many MLM opportunities all at one go, you are likely to spend less time on researching for each of them.
As a result, you are not going to become the go-to person on any one of them. Your inadequacy of knowledge will definitely reflect poorly when you are with a prospect.
You won't get a good amount of prospecting time either. If there are 4 MLM opportunities you are dabbling with and a particular occasion occurs when you have to meet 1 prospect for each of them, you can very well understand the confusion involved.
It will also become difficult for you to convince others about a particular opportunity. Since you are not convinced about any of them - that is the reason you took up the other opportunities, isn't it - you will not be able to convince others too. If your prospect comes to know you aren't devoted to one opportunity, they are going to have apprehensions about you.
But this point is the most important - when you are too many MLM opportunities on your platter and you get a prospect, you won't know which opportunity to push to them! You will be at a loss to understand which of your multiple MLM businesses will do the trick of convincing the prospect. You could lose a well-meaning prospect because of a bad choice there.
But that isn't to say you shouldn't have multiple MLM businesses at all. You can, but you have to give each of them some nurturing time. Join one, learn the ropes, settle it, and after that think about taking another. That's the way successful MLM people do it.
