Why choosing a proper web design company is important for your business

Its amazing how many phone calls I get each day from people looking for a quote for their new website. Yes, they did find me on a search engine and yes I am just one of the 10 other companies they have called. So what is the first question they ask me, yes you guessed it: how much does a website design cost? I then take a very deep breath and ask them what type of website do you want. they then tell me that they have no idea but the company that they just spoke to offered them a website for $250.00. Its at this point in the conversation that I look at the paper clip on my desk and slowly wind it around till it snaps. Ten seconds later I tell the guy on the phone that we cannot possibly compete at that price and its probably best that he goes and engages the services of that company. Oh no, he doesnt want to , he then reveals that he really wants a great looking website and detailed graphic design to go hand in hand with his new website and hes got very very deep pockets and a very generous budget for his website. OK, maybe Im thinking that the paperclip was overkill at this stage and Im feeling like I may have a good client here who wants all the bells n whistles and is prepared to pay for it. I ask him casually, 'so what is your budget for this new website ' and he says $350.00. I now go back to a new paper clip and start bending it again in frustration.

I guess the moral of this story is that you have to pay for quality graphic design if you want a website that will work well for you and your business. Spending $5000 on a stunning coffee table for your office and then complianing that youve got no money left is no way to commence a business.
