Wood stove basically made of a high quality iron or steel with fully controlled air control system. There is also chimney system through which gases generated are escaped out.

The fuel which is used in these stoves is hardwood and softwood. Softwood is mainly extracted from the trees of evergreen forests. Softwood is readily combustible. Hardwood is the wood which is generated from slow growing forests and it burns slowly and thus more effective for these stoves. The wood which is wet creates problem to burn owing to its moisture. However, dry and rough wood burns readily.

The cut wood is more wet and is nor suitable for instant fire. The wet wood which is having more moisture also damages chimney as on burning the moisture fragments remain stick to chimney and may cause catch fire to chimney. In these stoves, an utmost care must be taken while handling them else it may spark out some sort of fire outside of the stove.
