Your Guide To Selecting Paints For Your House
When decorating your home, the color of the paint is an important part of the decorating process that will leave a personal mark on your home
. A fresh color will give your rooms a whole new look, being a cost-effective way to decorate. Changing the color of your walls is also an option when you become bored of your home. In either of the cases, it is very important that you choose a color that will bring an improvement to the look of your houses. Here are a few vital tips just for this:
- Match the color of your paint with the furniture and decorations from your room. It is much easier to choose the paint color by matching it with items in your room. If you do not have the furniture picket out, you might want to go with a neutral tone for the color. It will still look great, but you will not get the feel you wanted.
- One you have chosen your color, buy a small quantity and test it on a small portion of your walls. This way, you can get to see how the color will look like, combined with the walls of your house. Take some color samples from the shop to home. This way you get a chance to see how the color fits in your room, without necessarily applying it on the wall.
- Apart from looking at the color applied on your wall, look at it during various moments of the day to see how the color reacts to the sunlight or to the moonlight.
- Check the paint color and the hue resulted from different types of electric bulbs, because each one will make the color appear differently.
- If your ceiling is too high, use a darker tone of the paint on it as compared to the walls to make it appear lower. Similarly, if your room isnt square, use it a darker color on the shorter walls to make it appear square.
- If you do not want to make your ceiling be perceived lower, it is advisable to apply light colors on the ceiling because this is always seen in shadow.
- Colors are usually divided into two categories warm (yellow, red, orange) and cool (blue, green, and purple). Select that color that best fits the mood you want to achieve.
- Ask the folks at the local paint shop for advice, telling them what you hope to achieve with your decorating project. This way you can find which pain is less toxic, which is washable or which can be used by children to paint without consequences.
- For multiple colors in one room, see if they combine. For example, for a room with white and green on the walls, you might notice white reflects green. To get an idea if this happens in your room, create a small corner with the colors of paint you want to use, the carpet and the curtains that will be placed in the room.
