Based on and illustrated by 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus we can see that there are several points to consider. The two initial elements are really holding to sound doctrine and practical outworking but we can examine these in six main points before looking at the practical outworking in...more
Leadership Practices Can Sometimes Appear Crazy Managerial practices can appear to be a bit "crazy" if they are based on beliefs very different than our own. Please keep an open mind as we explore the answers to these three questions. You may think I am a bit crazy because of the possible significant gap in beliefs we may have. Question #1: "Will an improvement in individual performance by each employee lead to an improvement in...more
Leadership Development – Why It Should Be Taught By Others There's a reason why leadership development should be taught by others and not by you or your in-house staff: and it's this. It's because you don't have time. Your staff does not have time. In this day and age of super fast communications and general over work, no-one has time. Except, that is, the companies that have made it their business to provide this kind of development training. In other words, the ‘experts'.Here's the thing – the 21st century is the age of the experts. You don't do everything yourself any more. It costs too much in terms of time and energy and it is never as well done as if you outsource everything to people and organisation that only do one type of thing, all the time. Leadership development should be taught to your staff, should be fostered and controlled, by companies that develop leaders day in, day out, week in, week out, month after month, year after year. Buy expertise and it will pay you back in a very quick space of time. Overall, getting the experts in to train your staff will result in a far quicker take up of knowledge and ideas – and that means a shorter route to top...more

Some of my favourite childhood memories include nights sitting in front of the television, watching in awe, as my favourite superheroes courageously defeated bad guys. I devoted many nights to watching superheroes like Superman race through the sky to save people from burning planes and collapsing buildings that were caused by diabolical super villains. It was inspiring to watch these heroes stand up to the likes of Lex Luthor and fight for the people who could not fight for themselves. The superheroes protected everyday people. I cannot remember a time, as a small child, when I did not want to be like them. I spent a lot of time daydreaming about possessing super powers. If only I could run faster than a speeding bullet or be indestructible like Superman. As a teenager, I found myself recalling my childhood heroes. I dreamt of having the strength to stand up to the CEO or the courage to tell him that he was wrong. However, any strength I had was quickly diminished as I watched others tell the CEO that he was wrong and then proceed to be abruptly walked out the door later the same day. It was clear that I was just as vulnerable. I could not help but think about all the amazing...more
