3.Speaking of saving money - laptops do not take well to being left on all the time, and desktops can be considerable power guzzlers. The electricity bill may leave you feeling like you've just saved a penny and spent a pound in the process.
4.Backup becomes more troublesome when your computer IS your host. Normally, syncing between computer and web host lets you keep two copies of your data, so that backup is always accessible if one copy goes kaput for whatever reason. DVDs, USB drives and portable hard disks do work, but these are less efficient than dedicated website backup tools.
5.How easy is it to leave your computer on and connected to the Internet all the time, even if the electricity bill doesn't matter? Power and Internet outages become a major liability, and going on vacation may mean begging someone to babysit your computer while you are away.
6.No matter how hard you try, it is quite difficult to match the 99.9% uptime rates of good web hosting services. Minimizing downtime is a good idea to ensure that a) your existing visitors do not get fed up, and b) new visitors do not turn away after seeing a page that refuses to load.
7.The bandwidth you will get from a web hosting service will far exceed what you can get from your own computer. Low bandwidth is a major liability for webmasters, as it is another factor that turns off visitors majorly - no matter how informative, useful or entertaining the site in itself is.
Once you decide to delegate the responsibility for web hosting into another's hands, you will find that a lot of tasks relating to your website become much easier. Web hosts are equipped with numerous tools and features that help you with website administration, maintenance, content management etc. They also have tech support teams who are more than willing to help out new webmasters. So instead of raising your electricity bills, environmental carbon levels and your own blood pressure, why not migrate to a land where all these worries are taken off your shoulders, and you can concentrate on developing your hobbies and your business?
