A green bank is not hard to find anymore. Actually many banks are encouraging their customers to start going green. I don't know of a bank that does not offer online bill pay, paperless statements and even auto pay. You can find websites like http://www.payitgreen.org/consumer/index.aspx where you can calculate just how many trees you can save if you chose to not receive a monthly bank statement.
There is only one concern that is not being addressed, you the consumer. The one thing I have always been surprised about is how littleif at all is it ever been explained to consumers that at the end of the day it istheir responsibility to make sure that their credit report is accurate and if there is a disputethe burden of proof liesin the consumer corner.
Let's just think about it for a moment everything is great until there is a problem. Now you need to prove that an item was paid, or that an issue has been resolved. Ohdon't worry you can just grab your old statement and fax it over, problem solved.
Wait you don't have any documentation for that account. No worries just call your bank it was only last year. Now you are stunned to hear how it will cost you per page for them to send you a copy of that old statement. No worries they will be happy to send you whatever you need because it is still a per page cost.
Now I am not saying not to go green, in fact I have but what I am saying you should find out now what is your bank polices on maintaining older statements, verification of what bills you have paid and if you need documentation what is the process including the fees.
You should also think about having your own backup system so you will have the information if needed. There are many backup programs and online servicesavailable. Green living is healthier for you and can be for your finances but just like with any change it does take time.
