The works are from the same period of Robert Schumann's creative life. Someone has said that in the first sketches of this mature work, the "Fantasie" he intended to raise funds for the edification of a Beethoven monument (he had greatly and sincerely admired the master of Bonn). The work, who has somewhat failed at fund raising; the majority of the required money was to be donated by Franz Liszt for the monument, is constructed as a three part sonata-form.

Pianists who can secure places in performing a work like this "Etudes Symphoniques" may need to be reminded that the work requires a full keyboard mastery in every possible pianistic texture.

The starting of the Schumann Fantasie means calm and health as well as breadth and bravery, symphonic thinking too, not piano fireworks.

The "Finale" of the "Etudes" finds all hands at their happiest. This energetic movement is the real apex of the CD and it never becomes obnoxious. The last set of "Five additional variations" is certain to please any serious music lover. For pure pleasure at the sure touch of dainty craft try the fifth, amazing variation. Mehmet Okonsar was born in Istanbul (Turkey) and lived in Paris while in his primary education. He began mastering piano at the National Conservatory of Ankara, with Nimet Karatekin and Necil Kazim Akses. Thanks to the rich assets the Ankara Conservatory then held and also the Mediatheque of the Centre Culturel Francais d'Ankara, he was raised studying the music of Pierre Boulez, Edgar Varese, Olivier Messiaen and Pierre Schaeffer, composers which would have a very strong effect on him.
