You should also make a visit to the very interesting Savathianon Monastery within the lush green surroundings at about 15 kilometers from the South of the town. Also make a visit to the cave found in the territory of the monastery. Here you can also see the small church of Aghios Antonios.

If you are interested in the archaeological sites and buildings you may make a visit to Late Minoan tombs at Kladistos. Do not miss the big rectangular construction of the Hellenistic period as back as 4th century B.C. you can also include the nearby village of Achlada situated at about 4 to 5 kilometers fromAgia Pelagia and have the bliss to enjoy the magnificent sceneryHeraklio provides as the twin church dedicated to Aghios Tryfinas and to Aghios Ioannis and the famous old stone fountain of the village.

You should not miss the two local feasts celebrated every year in the village. If you happen to visit it on 17th July you can attend the feast celebrated in the honour of Aghia Marina. And the other is celebrated on the 8th of October in the name ofAgia Pelagia, the protector saint of the village. The two beaches of the village and all the nearby beaches of theHeraklio are well suited for swimming and other water activities. These provide you the lovely views and are easily accessible. The beaches here also offer great facilities to the visitors.
