The Smartphone that actually isn't a Smartphone

. This is what a lot of folks have been calling the new Samsung Jet S8000. Although it does have most of the features of a regular Smartphone, some still refuse to put it in this category. This is yet another unnecessary addition to the already blurry classification of Smartphones which as of yet still does not have a standard industry definition. Nonetheless, amidst all the confusion is a mobile device that is sure to impress its users regardless of what one may want to call it - Smartphone or otherwise.

On the Outside

A common feature shared by a number of Samsung devices (i.e. the Samsung I7500) is that they act like magnets for unwanted fingerprint smudge. This is probably the only negative when it comes to the S8000's design and it is quite easy to disregard once all the other features are discovered. For starters, the Jet S8000 sports the familiar 3.1-inch touch screen with a 480 x 800-pixel resolution and the ability to showcase up to 16M colours. It makes use of Samsung's proprietary AMOLED technology which ensures a much better graphical experience for users with its vibrant colour display. With a design that is nothing out of the ordinary, it is the S8000's vivid and super clear screen resolution is what sets it apart from every other Smartphone in the market today.

Performance

Aside from a fully customizable user menu, what makes the S8000 so impressive (and perhaps akin to the dizzying heights of the Apple iPhone) is that it's very fast and allows for a totally fluid and smooth navigation experience. It's almost like using a capacitive touch screen; perhaps even better. This can probably be attributed to the very powerful monster under the hood which comes in the form of a Qualcomm 800 MHz processor.

Another notable feature on the S8000 is the 3D cube interface which is actually similar to that of the LG Arena. However, Samsung's version is much better as it allows users to utilize each of the cube's six sides. A dedicated shortcut key that instantly opens the 3D cube interface provides the users with the ability to easily access their music, videos, photos, games, the radio, and the internet with a single click.

In the End

Few Smartphones out there could rival the speed and responsiveness of the Samsung Jet S8000. It is also a media-centric mobile which allows users to enjoy their music, photos, and videos the best way possible. The S8000's interface is also commendable with its integration of the 3D cube and the Touchwiz technology. All in all, the Samsun Jet S8000 is definitely going to provide value for money and should be a viable alternative to the dime-a-dozen iPhone.
