Idol is one of the highest rated reality shows, which starts its latest 2010 season this evening, January 12th 2010. Over 18 mill americans catch the show two times a week, averaging 3 hours of watching the show online. Idol focuses its attention to all age ranges and is one of the most loved shows of in the reality tv world.

To become a contestant on American Idol you need to be a United States Citizen (obviously this is American Idol) and be from sixteen to 24 years of age. Many times you'll notice contestant tryouts in the TV show that are too old, but merely for the purposes of entertainment. Potential contestants below the age of 18 yrs you have to be chaperoned by a guardian. Idol begins with hundreds of potential contestants that are fighting to become finalists, but only 12 shall succeed. In the finale of the series only 1 of the twelve potential winners will become the American Idol and win contract in the entertainment industry. Each show has a different theme and all twelve must sing along with the theme.

Every Tuesday contestants perform the songs of that week, and on Wednesday the results are announced. American Idol challengers must deal with various dangers including elimination from the contest, mental problems, and job opportunities after appearing on the show.About the Author:
