Beating Up On Yourself Is Useless
This morning I awakened with a lot of issues on my mind - felt kind of down and out
. The heavy rain and gloominess contributed to my self- induced solemn mood. The pity party had begun That was ok because I have learned to allow myself a few moments to feel the pain. Our emotions are important and essential to being human. Even emotions that bring sad or fearful feelings can serve us well when we are aware of their true purpose. Experiencing the blues usually is a signal that we should give serious consideration to our issues. But too often our hectic schedules do not allow us the luxury of being aware of those things that should require our attention. So, the Creator in infinite wisdom equipped us with an internal radar and alert system called emotions. One of my blue feelings was related to my money management skills. Like too many Americans, whether we want to admit it or not, we are consumer driven and in some cases only two pay checks away from bankruptcy. I thought I had kicked that bucket a couple of years ago, however, I found myself once again mopping up the mess. You know, making those purchases you wanted but did not need. Having committed this offense against my bank account, I started my day feeling guilty and pretty low. I have failed again. I just cannot get it right, I am no good with money, No wonder I am not where I want to be Reverend Ike, now passed on, taught that at any point on the time line of life, we have the power to create, or recreate our destiny. One of my favorite quotes of a great author is I am not my mistakes. I took solace in the above. And during my time of meditation this morning, I simply held true to those facts and I chose to move forward as an excellent money manager. It just so happened that by the end of the day, a significant purchase I had made turned out to be a great blessing to someone else in need. I am thankful my emotions got the best of me this morning. They caused me to give focus, make a decision and take action with a new attitude. So, the next time you make a mistake, do not beat up on yourself simply beat to the tune of different drum.
