Have you ever been in your nice comfortable home with the air conditioner working
and getting ready to go to a sports event for your children? You know that you are going to go from a home at 72 degrees to the outdoors that is blistery hot at 90 or 95 degrees. As you sit in the stands you start to realize that you are sweating all over. The sweat might get in your eyes and sting or drip down your back. The other part is watching your children play their sports and they are dying of thirst and dragging some. If they are younger children then you might see them laying on the ground or complaining that they don't want to play anymore.
You might be thinking that the only thing that you want to do is get into a cool place and get away from the heat. So your child gets a win and you think that it will be really fun to go get an ice cream cone. You figure you will be able to enjoy the ice cream and a nice cool food place. Then you walk in and realize that the temperature inside the food place is hotter than outside and the ice cream is just going to melt. A customer might choose to ask if their air conditioner is working and when they ask they are told that it is broken.
When you ask when it is going to be fixed they might tell you that they don't have any idea. At that point what are your thoughts? Are you thinking that you are anxious to go back there or that you might skip going there for the rest of the summer or give it a month or so to see if things change? Just think if every customer that goes in there decides the same thing how much business they could lose in just a few days or a month or permanently.
It is amazing to think about how much proper heating and cooling can affect how you feel about a restaurant, grocery store, retail store or even friends homes that you visit. The ideal temperature is different whether you live in Atlanta or Los Angeles or Wyoming, but what is important to remember is that people want to feel comfortable and will go where they can get it. Whether it is in your own home, car, store or a restaurant it can definitely drive the business.
