Diwali Brings People Share Their Joy and Happiness
Diwali is celebrated in India with a lot of excitement, enthusiasm and happiness every year. It is one of the most biggest and brightest of all Indian festivals. The word Deepawali refers to rows of lights', and is also known as the festival of lights. The festival is generally celebrated for five days in the mid of October or November. This Hindu festival is related with mythology and there are many stories attached with Diwali. According to a popular Hindu legend, Hindu god Ram returned to his capital, Ayodhya on this day after killing the demon king Ravan. The residents of Ayodhya expressed their warm welcome to their beloved king by illuminating their houses with earthen diyas. Thus, the tradition to celebrate Diwali dates back many centuries.
Diwali is a special time of the year when people share their joy and happiness with their loved ones and pray for their prosperity and well being. It is the day to express love, affection and respect for the family members with beautiful greeting cards, wonderful diwali gift items, and sumptuous traditional Indian sweets. The festivities begin with cleaning the household, making rangoli and cooking tasty Indian delicacies or sweets for family members and guests. Children start stock piling and bursting different fire crackers for night. Indian markets also get flooded with a variety of wonderful diwali gift items, special diwali gift hampers ( like perfume hampers, cracker hampers) as Indian people prefer buying gift items, gold and other items at this auspicious time of year.
At night, People illuminate their household with candles and earthen diyas and worship the Hindu goddess of prosperity. The Lakshmi pooja is followed by exchanging various diwali gift items and sweets and children celebrate diwali with fire crackers. People too leave their doors open after the pooja ceremonies they believe goddess Laxmi will enter their house and bring good fortune, prosperity and happiness along with her. Thus Diwali involves much feasting, celebration, diwali gifts and fireworks which make it one of the most exciting and much awaited times of year. Diwali is celebrated on the darkest night of the month according to the Hindu calendar. It is also believed that the Deepavali diyas and candles will drive away all negativity and will bring more positive energy in the household.
Diwali is not only rejuvenates the life of Indian people but also acts like a perfect start of the new autumn season.
