Dressing Sense For A Job Interview
Job interviews for most of the candidates are a nerve wracking process that creates
a sense of confusion even in those candidates who have experience in attending various job interviews. In addition to that there is also the question of dressing up for the job interview that needs to be taken care of. There are some doubts and misconceptions about what to wear and how to groom and get tidy before going for the job interview process. Not only job interview is the process of examining the candidates unseen abilities related with work experience, skills, educational qualification and their psychological behavior but also their physical appearance. There is an old age saying that Clothes maketh the man or Clothes make the man in other words, Appearances count for a lot.
And this saying holds true for job interviews also. Because clothes are the first impression that a candidate makes even before he or she speaks a single word to the interviewer. Therefore, the following tips should be considered while dressing up for a
job interview and these are:
--- Getting the best fit: Majority of job seekers or candidates confuse comfortable clothing with those items or clothes that are oversized or undersized. Therefore, candidate must choose that clothing that is neat and clean and appropriately covers the body. Waistlines should be covered up properly and the shirts should cover the stomach completely without any splitting.
--- Type of dress to wear: It is recommended to wear full length pants or trousers rather than shorts. In case of women, the skirts should not be too short or too tight. It is recommended not to wear clothes with bright colors and wild patterns. Dark colors with white long sleeve shirts are best with moderate shoes for men. Women should wear hosiery that is neutral in color.
---Go as per the dress code set down by the company: If the company has already mentioned in the offer letter about the dress code to be worn, then the candidate is required to dress up as such. Otherwise, studying the website and the company look can gives the candidate a good idea about the dress code. For example, if the environment is dominated by younger managerial staff, the attire may consist of dressy jeans and dress shirts rather than suits.
--- Dresses that are not acceptable: Casual attire such as Jeans, sweat shirts, t-shirts, flip-flops, shorts, track suits etc are not acceptable for attending
job interviews . The dress code also depends upon the type of job that the candidate is attending for. For instance, the attire for jobs related with mechanical, electrical or civil trades where there is a requirement of giving demonstrative skills is different. The dress code in these cases may include wearing some protective gear or accessories as per the job requirements.
