Educational Programs for Veterans
Veterans' Services, Graduate Certificate
Select universities offer this opportunity for any veteran who already has a bachelor's degree. Students are typically educated in veteran services and veteran outreach. To receive the graduate certificate, 12 credits must be earned in the program.
Master of Science in Nursing
This graduate level program can be completed in 18 months or more. Students must already have received a bachelor's degree in nursing from a nationally accredited school. A US nursing license is also required when entering the program. The MS in Nursing program may be taken online from certain schools.
Bachelor Degree Completion Programs
These programs are perfect for the veteran who has completed 2 years of higher education or military training and wants to complete a bachelor's degree. Courses may be taken in person or online. In fact, there are even offerings of a degree completion program completely online with a flexible schedule. One popular degree for veterans is the Bachelor of Science in Strategic Studies and Defense Analysis. There are many other focuses available as well.
HVAC Training School
HVAC schools train students in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Veterans may learn the skills required to service, repair and install air conditioners and heating systems. A HVAC training school may train a student for up to two years, while some training programs last a few months. Classes may be held in the daytime or evening depending upon the school. Students are not only taught facts and figures, but also gain valuable hands-on experience to ensure future competence and success. Once classes are completed, students are ready to take the text for the necessary HVAC certification.
Entrepreneurship Programs
There are several ways to gain vocational instruction as a veteran. Some universities have special programs geared specifically toward veterans. One such program is the entrepreneurship boot camp which prepares veterans for owning a business, there is also an entrepreneurship program designed for women veterans. Others may choose to apprentice in a discipline, such as plumbing, and start a business.
GI-Bill Veterans Scholarships

MGIB-AD (Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty)
Up to 36 months of education assistance may be available with this program. Benefits may be received during or after active duty. After 3 years of service, full time students may receive up to $1564 per month in assistance.
VEAP (Veterans Educational Assistance Program)
This program is available to veterans who entered service between 1977 and June 30, 1985 and contributed a portion of military pay to benefit from the program. For each dollar contributed, the government contributes $2. Up to 36 months of assistance is provided.
