Women were not as prevalent as men in the workplace in the not so distant past

Over the years women have made headway in many industries; however they are still at times at a disadvantage, with lower pay, and less opportunity for advancement, mostly due to a lower level of education than their male counterparts.

It's hard for women today to even the odds with men, since they still hold their traditional roles within the home, which makes it even more difficult for them to find time to attend college, and with fewer opportunities to earn money to pay for a degree. More recently, in the past few decades educational scholarships for single women have been created.

In fact there are many grants and scholarships for woman of all ages and backgrounds available by private foundations, for women changing careers, returning to school or just beginning. Accounting Scholarships for Women in Transition - This scholarship is for single women who are the sole source of income for themselves and their family.

These are just a few examples of the many educational scholarships for single women that are available out there today. A simple search will give you a very large list of private foundations that offer scholarships for single women. Once you select a scholarship you want to pursue, you'll need to begin the application process. It is very important that you understand the requirements before applying, and be aware of the deadlines; you don't want to send in your application late and miss out on financial assistance for college.
