Electrical courses students may find opportunities in north-east

A new wind turbine components factory opening up in the north-east of England may

offer people who have taken electrical courses the chance to put their skills into practice.

The facility at Haverton Hill, Billingham has been developed by Tag Energy Solutions and is set to create 400 jobs for technicians in the area.

Although only 100 roles will be filled initially, there are sure to be opportunities for engineers who have completed electrical courses to apply for work at the hub.

David Eason, chairman of the company, stated that is happy to have a strong base of local, skilled workers and suggested the area could become a centre for world-class renewable energy component creation.

"This is a major step forward in positioning UK manufacturing as a serious player in the creation of offshore wind farms," he was quoted as saying.

According to the Northern Echo, this project is one of a series of new initiatives that have been rubber-stamped recently, such as a new facility to be developed by Corus near Redcar, Cleveland.
