However, if you have youngsters who are old enough to help out in the kitchen, this might be the perfect time for them to learn how to cook. You can turn their lessons into benefits for you. All the mistakes they make while learning may bring food to the table that is easy to resist. And that means less going into your body.

For those of you who live alone, here's another suggestion. Train yourself to shop only for the exact amounts and kinds of food you are going to consume. Take a list with you. Buy nothing that isn't on your list. This will cut down on the impulse shopping you do. Forget about bargains for a while. Many such bargains are on large or economy sized items. You may be saving some pennies but you will be spending them on unwanted calories.

Learning how to shop while trying to reduce is very important. If you always keep in mind that supermarkets are designed to lure you into impulsive food acquisitions that you hadn't planned to make, you'll find it easier to resist. It's you against them. The supermarket is enemy territory!
