GRE Policies with Which to Familiarize Yourself
The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is taken by individuals who want to advance in their career
. Many want to get into their dream graduate schools in hopes of landing their dream job. If you plan to take the GRE any time soon, here are some GRE policies with which to familiarize yourself.
1. It is the ETS's responsibility to ensure a fair testing and deliver an accurate score report. The institution aims to give GRE examinees the chance to demonstrate their abilities fairly and to prevent other test takers from gaining an unfair advantage. Because of this, the ETS has the right to cancel your GRE score if testing irregularities are found. Irregularities may be declared if discrepancies are found in the examinee's identification, if the examinee is found guilty of plagiarism or other forms of misconduct, or if the score is invalid for another reason. In the event that the ETS decides to cancel a score due to any of the above reasons, it will notify the examinee but it will not disclose the reason for score cancellation.
2. The term "testing irregularities" refers to problems encountered during the administration of the test. Some of the most common forms of irregularities include defective materials, improper timing, improper seating, defective equipment, improper access to test content, or other errors that could affect test takers. In case of test irregularities, the ETS reserves the right to cancel or decline the score. The ETS, then, gives examinees a chance to take the test again without additional charges.
3. Identification discrepancies. The ETS or the test center personnel have the power to identify discrepancies in the test taker's identification. In this case, the examinee may be dismissed from the test center. The ETS also has the right to cancel the score of test-takers with identification discrepancies.
4. Misconduct. Misconduct is defined as the failure to comply with the Test Center Procedures and Regulations. If the examinee is found guilty of misconduct, he or she could be dismissed from the test center. Misconduct results in forfeiture of fees. Examinees will need to pay the fees again if he or she wishes to take the exam in the future.
To ensure that everything goes smoothly, keep these
GRE policies in mind. Make it a point to read the Test Center Procedures and Regulations, which can be found on ets.org, carefully. Remember that knowledge is power, like in any battle it pays that you are equip with the right armor before you go in the battle field and learning the important things above are some of the most important armor you would bring in passing the GRE exam.
