Get Your Child An Eye Exam Before School Starts!

It's almost September, and that long summer break is almost over

. Not only does this mean your kids going back to school, but it means getting them prepared to do so. While getting new "back-to-school" clothes and school supplies is important, you should not overlook other important aspects of preparing your child for school. One critical preparation that is often overlooked is the eye exam.

Getting your child an eye exam before this school year begins is important for a plethora of reasons. For one, the ability of your child to perform well in school hinges on his or her vision. This is especially critical in the early years of elementary school when your child is first learning to read and write. If your child can not see the letters and words on the page (or on the blackboard), falling behind their classmates is a certainty.

Furthermore, it's important that you are aware of your child's visions problems so you can discuss them with his or her teacher. You can arrange with the teach for your child to sit towards the front of the classroom, and also ensure that your child is always using their glasses. If the teacher is unaware of the problem, she is not going to be able to help your child overcome it.

While many schools administer eye exams every year, they are often not thorough and will not always correctly identify your child's vision problem. So remember, if you want your child to achieve to the best of their ability in school, it is important that you give them the proper tools to do it. To do this, they need good vision, and you have the power to give it to them.
