. The former Phoenix engine now bears the Chrysler Pentastar and Jeep fans will be impressed with the power and finesse of this new combination.

The new engine version, which displaces 3.6 liters, is being fitted for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Chrysler is planning to replace seven of its current V6 engines with the Pentastar V6, which features a dual-overhead cam with variable valve timing and is all aluminum.

More than a 20-percent increase in horsepower, up to 280 in the new Grand Cherokee, will be a pleasant improvement for customers of Jeep Holland MI, and with 6,400 rpm and an upped 260 pound-feet of torque on- or off-road possibilities will be multiplied.

Not only has the power been revved up, but the fuel efficiency has increased by 11 percent, according to Chrysler. At any local Jeep dealership, Holland customers will appreciate that fact, as the SUVs have stereotypically been gas guzzlers. Recent streamlining by many automakers has resulted in a race to increase the overall efficiency for SUVs. Chrysler has stepped up to meet this demand. Chrysler is producing this engine in Trenton, Michicagn and has invested $730 million in a new family of engines to upgrade its entire line. The Trenton facility is set to produce over 400,000 engines annually and will not only give a boost to the local economy, but to the entire auto industry.
