How Led Technology Can Bring The Show Closer
Anyone who's been to a large concert or sporting event in recent years will have
undoubtedly seen some LED technology; it powers the large screens which bring the action closer to those further back, many billboards are now powered by it and the scoreboards have been LED powered for many years.
But how does it work, and why has LED technology been chosen over other methods such as CRT, plasma or LCD for these applications? In fact, these two questions are best tackled together as it is the way LED works which makes it ideally suited for these applications.
If you take a close look at your current TV, whatever technology it utilises, you will see the pixels which compose the picture. In an LED screen, the picture is composed by a number of primary-coloured LEDs in a cluster which illuminate at the required intensity to compose their section of the picture. Imagine this over the entirety of the large screen, and it's easy to see how LED technology is better suited to displays in the day time - LED's are much brighter than CRT, LED or plasma screens tend to be, and consequently will be clearer in bright light than the alternatives.
The portability afforded by LED technology also makes it the ideal choice for large-display applications: most LED screens, especially larger ones, can be broken down into smaller sections. This makes transporting these displays far easier than a single-piece unit on this scale - imagine the depth of a CRT large-screen display; transporting it would be a logistical nightmare.
Thanks to the portability and the clarity of the displays, even in bright daylight conditions, LED technology is the perfect way to bring displays to outside and large-scale applications. Far more portable than plasma, CRT or even LCD displays and with the brightest, longest-lasting and easiest to maintain screen, they are the ideal solution.
Often available for less than you may be expecting, LED displays are usually available for purchase or hire, making them ideal for either short or long term usage. Whether you are upgrading the display solutions for a stadium or similar, where they will be used regularly for sporting or music applications, or are planning on using them just once a year for a large event, most suppliers will be able to provide an option which will suit you and your requirements. Although LCD and plasma dominate the home large-screen display market, when it comes to public broadcast solutions, LED technology is the only viable solution.
