How To Use A Bluetooth Headset With Voip
The Internet is built using components and one of the great benefits of VoIP which
runs on the Internet is that you can mix and match various components to craft a solution which uniquely fits your needs. Take wireless headsets for example. Most of us have used them at some point in time and we know that your phone needs to support bluetooth for it to work. But what if you have a regular IP phone or you want to make and receive calls from your PC?
As we've seen before, getting a VoIP service from an SIP provider allows you to use VoIP in many ways as long as you have the software on your PC or mobile phone configured properly. In order to use a bluetooth headset with your PC, you first need to purchase a bluetooth adapter which will allow your PC to send and receive the unique frequency on which bluetooth operates. This adapter will probably fit into your USB drive and a blinking light will tell you that it's working. Most likely your operating system will install the drivers automatically. If it doesn't, just install the drivers from the CD which came with your headset.
The installation process can be a bit complex and it's very important to follow the exact instructions for your headset model. Steps will take you through pairing the device with the computer and then ensuring that a proper connection has been made. After that, you need to go to your "Audio" properties and change the default playback device to your bluetooth headset. If you're using an Operating system other than Windows, these instructions will be different.
Setting up bluetooth with a mobile phone is somewhat easier since they're specialized devices. On an Android phone for example, just head to the settings section and turn on Bluetooth. Most smartphones are bluetooth enabled and can easily communicate with bluetooth headsets. Allow it to scan and find your device and the pairing should take place without a hitch.
If all goes well, you should be able to make and receive calls without having to touch the actual phone. Being able to do this with a PC is very useful since you can make a Skype call for example and then walk around the room without having to sit in one place. Of course, Bluetooth isn't wifi and you can't travel very far.
It's tough to give exact details on how to pair two bluetooth devices because the process for each will be different. Refer to your device's manual to get exact instructions
