I Wish Dr Phil Would Do A Show On Bipolar Disorder
I hate his suburban chick reality show on Tuesday's. I might as well be watching a soap opera. Yuk! I love all his other shows as he tells it as it is. I love that he actually cares about helping people. What ever happened to Ted Williams. The homeless man with the golden voice. Back on the streets doing drugs again? Dummy backed out of rehab.
I do not believe anyone has done a real serious show on Bipolar Disorder. I would love to get Dr Phil to give it the true justice he always provides to everything. Unfiltered, you may not want to hear in your face truth that you need face to face. No one understands Bipolar Disorder unless you have struggled with it like me I have for past 20 years. Newly diagnosed, Bipolar Disorder patients do not really understand Bipolar Disorder either. I know I didn't know when I first got it serving my country in the US Navy. For me, the burst of mania power made my life fly by in an instant. Months seemed like days. Of course, I travelled from Egypt to Turkey to Sicily to Italy to Germany to Maryland to Oklahoma to Arkansas to Biloxi, Mississippi as i was in the manic stage time really flew by.
After being in Biloxi about a week, i was still in the manic episode. One day, I was thrown down in a paded room tied down, shot with a tranquilizer. I was the angriest i have ever been in my life. After that this one guy working at the pysch ward a mental health technician was extremely scared of me. Once i was well, I kept apologizing yet he stayed afraid. I felt bad about that. After about a month everything slowed to a snails pace once I started taking lithium. I had to earn my way from the most restricted "d" patient. I actually graduated to a "c" patient as i joined in group therapy. At first, group therapy was scary. What do I have to say? I don't know anything. I eased in real slowly. After about six weeks, attending groups, taking lithuim and gaining confidence I endured the daily three times a day blood pressure checks. I got to where i enjoyed group therapy especially when i was helping someone else. That was cool!
Back to Dr Phil, I think I could give a fresh prospective. Maybe we can help people struggling with Bipolar Disorder and their families understand how to deal with our kind. I think this mental illness is hardest on the closest loved ones. My sister got bipolar disorder too! There is something in the missing in our parents mixture as we have a chemical imbalance in our brains. I think Dr Phil can bring it down to the basics. The nuts and bolts to laymens terms. Maybe i'll get lucky, he will see this article that would cause him to do a serious show about Bipolar Disorder. I'd go on television to take a free trip to Hollywood, California. Although, I would be extremely nervous. If it helps one person then it is worth it.
