In The Mind Of A New York Artist
Graffiti' OK, call it ruffiti
Graffiti' OK, call it ruffiti. There is an artist who loves to paint his dogs on uncontested spaces all over Manhattan from construction site fences to buildings. These portraits of his dogs have been able to generate reactions from dog lovers and those who are not that particular about dogs.
With regard to these portraits, some like them and some do not. These dog images have been in the limelight for a long time. Because of how much exposure there was of his works, it prompted a seven city tour one summer on Route 66.
What he wanted was to show off his skills without having to deal with art dealers. What art dealers do is tell the artists what they have to paint if they want to sell. Even if they have to follow orders, some artists are willing to be told what to do to succeed in this particular field.
He just wanted a new challenge and this is why he created these. There is nothing that can be compared to this showcase of art.
Each of these dogs are pretty different in their own way. Never was he not confident about his works.
He is able to complete a dog portrait with only seven swift strokes. Because of how disappointing the art works are at the galleries that he went to, he tried to do something else with paint.
One woman who lives down the street from the gallery had never visited until the artist's dog show. In fact, she bought a $1,500 dog painting from the show.
Some went there but not to spend anything. A fan asked him to sign some fences which he brought carrying doggy designs.
Evil is what another person called the artist. As said by one individual, New York is better off without these.
The artist just laughs off comments that what he's doing is too intellectual for them. Actually, antiques were his life before he began delving into art forms.
This lifelong New Yorker likes to walk around and see things to stimulate ideas. He's particularly drawn to the Wall Street area at night, where it's like a different planet.
Come summertime, the country is where he gets his inspiration. The Dogs across America tour travels on Route 66, hitting Chicago.
