Is Business Networking the Best for Lead Generation?

There are so many forms of lead generation that generating leads through business networking really depends on multiple factors

. In a B to B situation, in which one business wants to take another business as a client, participating in networking events can be ideal.

In a different situation, in which general consumers are the target lead, then there is some subjectivity to be added to the above-mentioned. It should be considered, however, that professionals who attend business networking events, are generally consumers as well. This means that it depends on whom a person's chosen target is.

On a broader scale, we must consider what we mean by networking in this example. Networking can mean; to be engaged and involved in business networking events or affairs. It can also mean; that which people do every day by coming into contact and interacting with people in general. Either of these examples can produce exceptional results depending on the perspective of the networker.

In business, when we speak of "lead generation." We typically envision ways of gathering potential clients and prospects in a way that is trackable and efficient. For example, you can purchase a list of targeted leads from a lead company and contact all of them. Afterwards you can sum up your ROI based on your results. If you purchased a certain amount, you can then count how many clients or hot prospect were generated. Again, depending on your field of endeavor, the above may be a winning combination for you.


Is it possible to track business networking in the same way? It absolutely is but the generation of the potential hot prospects and clients will happen at a slower rate. This is because it is done at the speed of introductions and relationship growth. However, because of the one on one interaction, the closing rate could be much higher than the cold method. Trust and likability is more easily established at a face-to-face level.

Furthermore, the magic can also come from the way an individual grows and uses his or her network. It can be the only form of lead generation for the right person.

Because one person is connected to another, an individual can locate people through other people, via relationship harvesting. These connections can be far more qualified and receptive because they are acquired on a more personalized basis.

So, to answer the above question, "Is business networking the best for lead generation?" I would say, it's probably the most powerful per square footage but requires a fair amount of effort and skill.
