At first glance, Landmark education may seem like a cult to the onlooker. There are rumors of the movement's strict bathroom policy, long classes as well as strict eating and drinking rules. There are also rumors of forced enrollment of the member's family and friends to the movement. Landmark education is believed by many to teach self help and mind control techniques that are common in cults such as scientology. The true meaning and face of Landmark education can only be discovered through experiencing a Landmark forum.

Erase from your mind the picture of many new age forums in existence. A Landmark forum does not involve hugging strangers or holding hands to find the peace within you. Forums are quite straightforward. Participants attending a Landmark forum are given the opportunity to share their stories with other Landmark participants. Members share their stories at their own free will. You need not worry about being coerced into sharing what you feel is too personal. You need not participate at all if you prefer to sit back and listen to the contributions of others.

It is no secret that we as human beings always think that we are better off than other people. Landmark education brings people to the realization that they are not as good or as bad as they think of themselves. The aim of the education is to bring participants to the realization of how inauthentic their lives are. Landmark education helps you to recognize the voice in your head that is constantly criticizing yourself and those people around you.

Listening to other participants in a Landmark forum gives you the opportunity to look at your own life and decisions from the inside out. You can easily recognize excuses that you often use in your daily life for you and your family. It may not be easy to face the truth about your life choices and those of people close to you. However, this is the first step to living an authentic life.

Many cults are known for forced enrollment of family and friends. Landmark education does not involve any coercion. Those who are invited are free to attend or not. They are also free to choose whether to participate or not. You may even invite a stranger to the forum.

Landmark education is not about teaching a new religion. Landmark education is designed to bring out permanent shifts and changes in your life that will lead to a better quality life.
