Ncaa Basketball Tickets - Mountain West Rundown
For most sports fans, this is the middle of the football season
, so all attention is focused on the gridiron. However, for the more advanced college sports aficionados, this is the time of year when studying up on college hoops is most important. In the spirit of getting prepared for the upcoming hoops season, let's look at a rundown of a few of the most important storylines from the Mountain West Conference, a league that's looking to send multiple teams to the NCAA Tournament's later rounds. If you're interested in seeing the MWC basketball teams play in 2009-10, make sure you check for for NCAA basketball tickets, because this season is going to be intense!
BYU: Always a Good Bet... Until the Tourney - There are a few certain things in this world. Some of those things include death, taxes, the sunrise, and BYU's excellent sports program. Brigham Young is always an athletic powerhouse, and this season in hoops ought to be no different. The Cougars return pretty much every critical piece from their 25-8 (12-4 MWC) season last year, and they're the pick of the litter in the conference this season. Jonathan Tavernari and Jimmer Fredette are going to be the go-to guys in the Cougar's offense. But there's one thing Cougars fans ought to be weary of: the Tourney. They never seem to last too long in March. With all the experience returning, can this team make a run in the NCAAs? Let's hope so.
Montezuma's Revenge - Vengeance is a powerful motivational tool. It's too bad for the rest of the league SDSU has plenty of revenge fueling their fire even before the season starts. San Diego State was right on the verge of getting a ticket to the NCAA Tournament last season, going 26-10 overall. They had some of their best games down the stretch. Many believe they were snubbed, and Montezuma demands vengeance. They're even hungrier this year and they return Tim Shelton and D.J. Gay. Lots of talented transfers and frosh could make this an AP Top 25 team very soon. What's even better is that SDSU will get to take out their frustration on Arizona (the team believed to have stolen their spot) when the Wildcats face the Aztecs in San Diego on Dec. 19.
Home Pit Advantage - There's nothing like having the edge at the Pit. The Pit, the home of the New Mexico Lobos, is getting a renovation. It's costing a lot of money, but for fans who come out to the games, it should be well worth it. While we don't expect the new stuff to take away from the gritty atmosphere, we're interested to see a game there nonetheless. Try to get out to a game this year-perhaps when Dayton comes to town on New Year's Day.
So there you have it, a couple of the most interesting things happening in the Mountain West Conference this offseason. One never really knows how this conference will shake out in the end, so you'd better follow along from the opening tip off to the final buzzer. Then, hit the road with your team on their trip to the Final Four in Indianapolis, Indiana.
