Nfl Tickets - Week 7 Observations

Here are some things that stood out to me in Week 7 of the 2009 NFL season.

The Colts are firing on all cylinders. If you're going to get NFL tickets this season, get some to see Peyton Manning. The guy never ceases to amaze me. The Colts dismantled the St. Louis Rams in Week 7. It's not that the Rams are a tough team to beat, but the best teams have to demolish the lesser teams, and that's exactly what the Colts did to St. Louis. The Colts still have to prove themselves against the best competition in the league, though.

Alex Smith gives the San Francisco 49ers the best chance to win. Shaun Hill was the safe pick at quarterback in the preseason, but he's limited. Smith was once the number one overall pick for a reason and he could be ready to make good on all of this talent. He's been through injuries and some personal tragedies off the field, but I think he could be finally ready to assume the reins in the Bay. Smith played the second half against the Texans and lit it up, throwing for three touchdowns to Vernon Davis and really getting the Niners offense going. Davis is the team's best weapon in the passing game and he hadn't registered a catch in the first half.

Smith hit him often in the second half and earned the starting job in the process. The Niners could be a really good offense with Smith, Davis, running back Frank Gore and wide receiver Michael Crabtree.

The Steelers are still in the Super Bowl mix. A lot of people were ready to write off the Steelers when they lost to the Bengals, but they've bounced back. The Steelers took down the previously undefeated Minnesota Vikings in Week 7 and have elevated themselves back to the elite level. Rashard Mendenhall has given the team a boost on the ground and the passing game is much more dangerous than anyone thought.

Every other team is starting to get nervous about the Patriots. The Patriots are looking like the team they were in 2007 more and more with every passing week. Tom Brady has shaken off the rust and he's firing quick passes to Wes Welker with 2007-like precision. The Patriots simply weren't themselves for the first few weeks of the season, at least on offense, which is understandable considering their best player missed nearly the entire 2008 season. If the defense can hold up, and it seems to be improving, then the Patriots are a Super Bowl contender. There's no way around that with an offense like they have.

The Jets bounced back in a big way. Beating the Raiders is not all that big of a deal, but beating any NFL team 38-0 is a statement. If the Jets are going to make the playoffs, their running game and defense are going to take them there, not Mark Sanchez. It seems like the Jets are realizing that after giving Sanchez a little too much responsibility too quickly. Don't write this team off.
