Nfl Tickets - Week 9 Observations

Here are some things that stood out to me in Week 9 of the 2009 NFL season.

Matt Cassel is going to be a good player for the Chiefs. It was ugly early on in the season, but you have to consider the ineptitude of the offensive line and all the turnover on the roster before judging Cassel's performance. Once the line gels and the team gets some more quality personnel on the roster, this offense could be a good one. Cassel is still learning, but he's developing a solid rapport with wide receiver Dwayne Bowe and could really benefit from the presence of Chris Chambers.

Another guy he appeared to have some chemistry with this week was Lance Long. With three receivers he can trust and a running game that could be ready to break out, Cassel's future looks bright in Kansas City. People just need to have some patience, but I like what I see from the former Trojan.

The Cardinals can beat any team in any given week, depending on which Arizona team shows up. The Cardinals have struggled with consistency this season, but when they're clicking they're as dangerous as any offense in the league. Kurt Warner has also struggled to remain consistent, but the running game appears to be coming around. Rookie Chris Wells is getting better and better and it only seems like a matter of time before he supplants Tim Hightower as the starter and becomes the feature back. He needs to improve on his blocking and receiving skills before that happens, though. Still, the emergence of a running game could do wonders for this already potent offense.

The Bengals are not going away. When they suffered a couple of injuries to key defensive players a few weeks back I was ready to write them off, but they've persevered and are really looking strong. Their defense has been playing very well and has not spent too much time on the field due to the team's consistent rushing attack. Cedric Benson is having a career year, and the team is feeding him with regularity. Carson Palmer and the rest of the team's passing game have been able to do enough to support the running game, as well.

They've surprisingly swept the season series with the Baltimore Ravens and are yet to lose a game in the AFC North. It appears that this team is for real and will be around for the duration this season. If they can't outdo the Steelers, they're still in good shape to secure a Wild Card berth.

The AFC West is not locked up. The Denver Broncos have stumbled, and the Chargers are starting to gain steam. Only one game separates the two teams now, and the Chargers are the more talented club. The emergence of Vincent Jackson as an elite receiver has given the Chargers a consistent deep play element in their offense. They've struggled in the running game, but San Diego can still take this division after appearing to be out of it early on for the second season in a row.

Vince Young is showing promise and is playing within the offense. Young is not making the mistakes that plagued him earlier in his career, and the team is 2-0 with him as the starter this season. He's still got a ways to go, but the past two games have been really encouraging for Tennessee fans. Young has a unique ability to make exciting plays that sell NFL tickets, which is extremely attractive to the franchise.
