Olympic Heights Neighborhood in Austin, Texas

Nestled on the southern side of Austin, Olympic Heights is about 1.5 miles south of West Slaughter Lane. Entrances to the community are located on Marcus Abrams Boulevard off of Manchaca Road, and another on Frate Barker Road. The subdivision is known for its comfortable and affordable living style, as it's the lowest priced master-planned D.R. Horton community in the area.

Beautiful landscaping, street lamps, and nature trails make their home in the area, giving Olympic Heights a truly peaceful atmosphere. The streets that wind through are named after Olympic medalists like Mary Lou Retton, Jesse Owens, and Wilma Rudolph. To keep the area safe and discourage unwanted traffic, roundabouts were added to several of the streets.

Construction began in 2003 and was completed in 2008. It's common to find single- and two-story homes that are ideal for young families, many with brick or native stone exteriors. The homes in the neighborhood are a bit smaller than those found in surrounding subdivisions, many with three bedrooms and two or three bathrooms. From January 2009 to May 2010, sold home sizes ranged from 1,123 to 2,073 square feet, and sold prices ranged from $132,122 to $208,750.

Membership in the Olympic Heights Homeowners Association is required for all residents. The association is paid a yearly fee that helps maintain the neighborhood's community center and other common areas. Additional information, including classified ads, garage sale listings, and an online payment area can be found on the website.

As a resident of Olympic Heights, you'll get exclusive access to a community swimming pool, community center, hike and bike trails, and a five-acre park. For those who enjoy golf, the Onion Creek Club is three miles away. The 27-hole course is known as the "Birthplace of the Senior PGA Tour" and was founded by three-time Masters Champion, Jimmy Demaret. You can join the club as a Golf Member or Tennis Member. Each will get you access to the respective sport, as well as the club's fitness center, Junior Olympic-sized pool, baby pool, and six outdoor lighted tennis courts.
